BREADBASKET
Origins
Swedesboro was once known for producing so much wheat that in the 1700s it was given the nickname “The Breadbasket.” Since most of the wheat was exported to European countries like Germany, our Wheat Beer is our tribute to the traditional wheat-based hefeweizen of Bavaria.
Our Breadbasket is a perfect selection for those seeking a beer with a lighter body that remains full of flavor.
Food Pairings
The smoothness of our Wheat Beer pairs extremely well with very light foods such as salads, vegetable dishes, or sushi, as well as with light cheeses such as Italian-style mascarpone and ricotta. It is generally too light for dessert but could pair with fresh berries or a fruit-based dessert.
Suggested Foods: Salads or Sushi
Cheese: Buffalo Mozzarella or Ricotta Cheese
Dessert: Fresh Berries or Banana Pound Cake
Seasonal Variation of Our Classic Wheat Beer
Breadbasket just might be our most refreshing beer on a spring day. On the other hand, Cranbasket, an autumn variation, just might be the perfect beer for a chilly fall evening, and our summer variation, Bluebasket made with local blueberries, will certainly quench your thirst on a hot summer day!
